The BioLite SolarHome 620 is power in a box! This shoebox sized power box brings modern lighting, energy, and entertainment to any space transforming it into an off-grid home. To charge up it captures daily sun. Essentially, the BioLite SolarHome 620 is a control box run by a 6-watt solar panel and a 20 watt hour battery.
It’s easy to install and has an integrated LED display which provides real-time feedback on your sun strength and power availability. Additionally, this box powers 3 hanging lights, USB charge-out, and an MP3/FM radio system!
So the kit comes with 3 over-head lights with their own switches. Broken down that’s two 100-lumen string lights and one motion sensor light. The 3rd hanging light automatically activates from nearby motion for added security or a boost of light for a temporary pathway. Meanwhile, the control box also has an SD card reader that plays the radio, MP3 and provides a charge out.
Now as awesome as the BioLite SolarHome 620 is there are some limitations. The cables are a bit short making the system suitable only for small spaces. Also, the speaker isn’t the greatest. However, that isn’t much of an inconvenience since it’s not the primary purpose.
Nonetheless, some good features are that the lighting has 3 settings with the brightest setting getting fairly bright. Also, if you’re camping the charge out is super convenient for charging your cell phone.
