There is never a time that a yummy dessert isn’t a welcomed indulgence. Naturally Sweet Vegan Treats by Marisa Alvarsson, most well-known as blogger Miss Marzipan, is just what the sweet tooth ordered. Naturally Sweet Vegan Treats is a plant based dessert cookbook that is the perfect cure for guilt-free eating enjoyment.
The best thing about this cookbook is that it features dessert recipes that are free of refined sugar and artificial sweeteners, but that are still miraculously delicious. You’ll never know how satisfyingly enjoyable plant based desserts can be without the sugar crutch until you try this cookbook.
Using healthier swaps, Alvarsson uses natural alternatives like fruit, jam, maple syrup and coconut sugar to sweeten. This way you can savor decadent sweet treats without worrying about unhealthy, chemical additives. Alvarsson displays a unique and extraordinary ability to transform wholesome and nutrient dense ingredients into the most brilliant, amazing treats.
Besides that the recipes are imaginative, instructions are easy to follow and the ingredients are relatively easy to source. I especially love Alvarsson’s sweetener swaps. Whether you’re vegan or not you’ll appreciate Alvarsson’s genius in creating healthier options for sweet treats.
Some of my favorite recipes from this cookbook are Roasted Peach and Banana Pancakes and the Spelt and Banana Breakfast Muffins. The Roasted Peach Banana Pancakes were so reminiscent of pancakes at my grandma’s on a Sunday morning. I forgot just how delicious both the aroma and taste of roasted peach was with pancakes. The Spelt and Banana Breakfast Muffins are hearty and delicious, while also being wholesome and nutritious. I thoroughly enjoy them with my morning tea.
Overall, Alvarsson had accomplished something quite amazing that very few are able to do. Finding swaps for sweets that are natural and nutritious isn’t by any means an easy feat. Yet, in Naturally Sweet Vegan Treats Alvarrson seems to do so effortlessly and all for the benefit of our guilt-free eating enjoyment.
