Our vegan friendly travel destination of the week is Berlin, Germany. What may be surprising is that a couple of years ago HappyCow.net voted Berlin the number one vegan-friendly city in the world. Today it ranks third. Yet what is most impressive is that according to HappyCow.net there are approximately 62 vegan restaurants within a five-mile radius around Berlin with over 400 vegetarian and veg-option restaurants total.

Rest assured that when you visit Berlin you will have no problems finding vegan eats. There are plenty of options on nearly every corner. It seems the progressive city of Berlin, Germany has justly earned the title of vegan friendly travel destination of the world. It’s a veritable vegan mecca! Let’s check out some of the best options.

La Stella Nera

La Stella Nera has been deemed by many to be the absolute best pizza in all of Europe. On weekends Kopps serves up an unlimited brunch, which has grown to be quite the fan fav. This appetizing brunch buffet indulges guests with a wide selection of cold dishes including savory and sweet spreads, marmalades, vegan cheese, salads, specialties and antipasti. They also serve up hot menu favorites such as tofu ‘scrambled eggs’, flavorsome seasonal soups and their ever-popular pancakes, topped with an irresistible berry cream.

ATAYA

Named after a Senegalese tea ceremony, Ataya is a 100% vegan Afro-Italian cafe located on a quiet little street in Prenzlauer Berg. Now Ataya is all about conviviality. Thus, its a no WiFi, no Laptop restaurant where you go to relax and connect to the authentic interactive human experience with loved ones and friends. You’ll see the Senegalese and Sardianian influence in food and decor. Ataya has a cozy living room vibe outfitted with a sunny terrace and lots of books, which instantly makes you feel right at home.

On Sundays, they serve up an extremely popular, which covers the popular African and Italian specialties. So look forward to their savory African bowl, jollof bowl, curry Dakar and other traditional African dishes prepared with mustard or peanuts. As well, prepare your taste buds for pasta fresca like gnocchi and ravioli, traditional Sardinian bread, acai bowl, raw cheesecake, rich and creamy tiramisu, and organic Italian coffee.

Of course we wouldn’t dare forget that sweet tooth. For some mind-blowing sweet treats be sure to check out Brammibals Donuts. Brammibals serves up the most outrageously good vegan donuts that are scrumptious, colorful and totally addictive.

To keep things seasonal, fun and interesting Brammibals rotates their flavors monthly, while still offering a standard range of 6 classic donuts. So on any given day you might enjoy the sweet and savory Salted Caramel Hazelnut or perhaps the scrumptious Banana Peanut Fudge donut.
