A life lesson that I’ve learned is that compassion is understanding. In coming to this realization I now know that compassion is not pity, leniency or tolerance. It’s simply an understanding of the role that someone or something plays in your reality.
In your life journey change is constant. There is a steady influx of players, situations and heightened sensitivities that move you to feel one way or another in any given moment.
This is where compassion comes into the picture. The more you evolve, the more compassionate you become because your evolution affords you greater insight. You begin to understand why things happen, when they happen and to what end.
This expanded understanding allows you to see life’s purpose. You realize that every one, every circumstance and every response holds a greater purpose. This purpose holds significance for you. The message in all of it is for you and you alone. In that way compassion is ultimately your oracle of understanding. So what that all means and why it means anything can only be defined by you.
What has compassion taught you? Have you observed it from the perspective of understanding? What did it reveal?
