If you didn’t know, the future is Native Shoes. Native Shoes is probably known more for it’s activism than it’s shoes, particularly The Remix Project. However, many love them for both.
The Remix Project recycles your Native Shoes by giving them new life in projects across the community. So the way it works is that when you are ready to discard your Native Shoes rather than trash them you take them to a nearby Native Shoes drop-off location or ship them back to Native Shoes via their partner UPS.
From there, using a proprietary regrind process, Native Shoes breaks down the materials found in every style of Native Shoes. This material is then repurposed into any variety of useful things. Some examples include the creation of seating, playground flooring, insulation and more.
Native Shoes produces all sorts of active shoe wear including sandals, slip-ons, knit sneakers and boots. They make shoes for men, women and children. Using a variety of recycled and eco friendly materials Native Shoes are designed to reduce the excess and increase recycled content.
Thus, you will find that Native Shoes are made in the most minimalist and eco friendly way possible. Some materials used include elastilite recycled EVA, PU, non-solvent microfiber and rubber. Specifically, insoles are made from a blend of reground EVA materials and conventional PU giving you a smooth, bouncy stride. Additionally, Native Shoes uses the Liteknit thread formula which uses a modern 3D knitting method that is seam-less, light-weight, ultra-breathable and uses less waste.
All Native Shoes are PETA approved and no less human kind. Most of their shoes are hand washable, odor resistant and absorbent. Best of all they are light weight.
I am most fond of their Jefferson 2.0 Lightknit. It’s a classic style that is light, comfortable and airy. Offered in fun, cool colors, it’s perfect for everyday casual wear. I especially love how the liteknit upper technology offers an easy slip-on, flexible fit. No more lace-ups for me.
I also love their Jimmy CityLite rain boot. Typically I won’t do a rain boot, but this one is fabulous enough that I anticipate the rain just so that I can rock them. It has a cozy microfleece lining and gusseted tongue that successfully keeps warmth in and moisture out. Are they calling for rain?
Overall, Native Shoes is perfect for the consumer who values simplicity and comfort in shoe wear as well as an eco responsible design. If you lead a moderately active lifestyle these shoes are perfect for you. Or if you love a good, comfy slip on to run errands then you too will love Native Shoes.
Ultimately, Native Shoes have clearly done something wonderful here. They are well on a path to a circular, sustainable economy of design via a most inspiring shoe brand. The future is definitely Native Shoes.
