It’s no longer just available at restaurants and fast food chains. You can now make your own Impossible Burger right at home because it’s available in stores. It was initially released in the Southern California grocery chain, Gelson’s. However, now the Impossible Burger is available in Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Wegmans, Fairway Markets, Pavillions and other supermarkets.
The rollout has been somewhat slow. However, Impossible Foods is working efficiently to meet the demand. In mid-April of this year over 1000 supermarkets in California, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Nevada, Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia began stocking Impossible Burgers. According to Tech Crunch, a $500 million round of funding the company closed in March to fuel the increased distribution and push to expand its product suite and geographic footprint domestically and internationally.
The 12-ounce packages are being sold for anywhere between $8.99 and $9.99. Shoppers may find the plant-based Impossible Burger fresh or frozen in the meat aisle, in the vegetarian section or in special promotional displays. Similarly to real meat, the Impossible faux meat may be used the same way that you would typically use ground beef. So other than burger patties, you might also use it in lasagna, chili, meatloaf and more.
In a statement, Impossible Foods’ President Dennis Woodside said, “We’ve always planned on a dramatic surge in retail for 2020 — but with more and more Americans’ eating at home under ‘shelter-in-place’ orders, we’ve received requests from retailers and consumers alike.”
Now that Impossible Burgers are available in stores what scrumptious recipes will you create?
