This homemade liquid fabric softener recipe from happymoneysaver.com is simple yet effective. Coming in as a close second to dryer balls this power packed combo combines the power of several well known fabric softeners. Together they truly deliver you an awesome diy fabric softener.
Ingredients
6 cups vinegar
1 cup baking soda
15 drops essential oil (optional)
Instructions
Pour the vinegar into a large bowl. Add your essential oil, if using. Add your baking soda. When fizz has settled, pour into storage container of choice. Use up to 1 cup (depending on load size) per load. I poured mine right into the regular fabric softener location.
Note: Prior to adding the baking soda, the oil may sit on top of the vinegar. After pouring in the baking soda and letting it dissolve, the oil will no longer sit at the top. Thus, you shouldn’t have any issues with any oil spots on your clothes.
You’ll get about 8 loads out of this recipe. To actually smell the scent you’ll need at least 20 drops of essential oil. However, if you don’t mind the faint scent 12 drops should be sufficient.
