Here are the most liked vegan egg substitutes…
With growing ethical and health concerns many are turning away from eggs. In turn, they are seeking safe alternatives. When searching for an egg replacement primary concerns are effectiveness and texture. With that in mind let’s review some of the favorites.
Ener G Egg Replacer
An oldie but good is Ener G Egg Replacer. It’s vegan and has clean ingredients. Over a decade ago, this was the first egg replacer that I ever used. It was the perfect solution to my baking woes. Despite all the newer options it is still my go to. It comes in a 16 ounce box, which is equivalent to 100 eggs. That said, with this you definitely get bang for your buck. In terms of effectiveness it’s perfect for baking most anything. However, in terms of texture it is unlikely that you will use it as a replacement for an actual egg on a breakfast sausage patty.
The Neat Egg
Next up is The Neat Egg. This is one of the newer brands. It is 100% plant based. It comes in a 4.5 ounce package, which is equivalent to 18 eggs. Like Ener G Egg Replacer it is good for use solely in recipes where egg is a binder. The best feature of this brand is the ingredients. The Neat Egg simply consists of chia seeds and garbanzo beans. That’s it! How’s that for clean?
Bob’s Red Mill Egg Replacer
Bob’s Red Mill Egg Replacer is another reputable brand. This brand is comparable to Ener G Egg Replacer in effectiveness and use. It comes in 12 ounce packaging, which is equivalent to 34 eggs. It is made of clean plant based ingredients. Bob’s Red Mill Egg Replacer is well worth considering for your next baking venture.
Vegan Egg
Follow Your Heart more recently joined the movement and added Vegan Egg to their product family. Follow Your Heart is most notorious for their delicious offering of dairy-free products from Veganaise to cream cheese. However, recently they have added the Vegan Egg to the mix. Doing so proved to be a good move. Unlike the older brands, The Vegan Egg was created to serve a dual purpose. Not only was it designed to replace eggs as a binder in baking, it can also be used as scrambled eggs. Now depending on your preference you may agree that the texture still needs work as a scrambled egg replacer. However, as a binder the Vegan Eggs holds its own. The Vegan Egg comes in a 4 ounce container, which is equivalent to a dozen eggs. This makes it a bit on the pricey side compared to the powdered brands.
Just Egg
Just Egg is another brand designed to serve a dual purpose. In fact, this may just be the first to successfully do so. As an actual egg the consistency is dead on. As a binder it also checks all the boxes. The only con about this product is the price. It comes in a 12 oz package, which is equivalent to 8 eggs. Nonetheless, the innovation of Just Egg has taken the plant based world by storm. Restaurants around the world are using it. Thus, it sure to be a huge hit in your household.
Each of these egg substitutes have what it takes to bring your baking dreams to life. For those who can’t eat eggs some may even fulfill your desire to once again eat eggs. Either way each of these brands are well worth the try.
