Yes Czech cuisine is typically associated with stewed meats, dumplings, and heavy sauces. However, with it’s plethora of vegan friendly restaurants Prague is also the most vegan-friendly destination in all of Central Europe.
Besides that, Prague may just be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. From it’s picturesque architecture and park squares to it’s exquisite palaces, it is one of the most popular destinations on the continent, drawing about 4 million visitors each year. However for vegans Prague is even more. It’s vegan heaven. Here are some of the must visit vegan friendly restaurants in Prague that every vegan traveler must try.
Vegan’s Prague
Besides having an attic and terrace space that offers spectacular views of the Prague Castle, Vegan’s Prague is perfect for trying vegan versions of some traditional Czech meals. So if during your trip, you’re ever near the castle then Vegan’s Prague is the place to go to enjoy a wholesome veganized authentic Czech meal. Enjoy the vegan version of some traditional Czech favorites like svíčková and goulash.
Loving Hut
There are several Loving Huts throughout the city, however the Loving Hut near Wenceslas Square is one of the better ones. This Asian-inspired buffet serves Asian style foods like curries, pho, fried rice, noodles, and spring rolls. You have the option to choose between a vegan pay-by-weight buffet or a full menu. Now while the quality of the food may not be at the top of your list of favorites, Loving Hut offers a very convenient, fast and affordable way of obtaining vegan food, especially while on the move.
Forky’s
If you love all things burgers than Forky’s is a must try. Offering both Czech and international cuisine, Forky’s is very modern, very simple and very delicious. They offer more than the standard veggie burger. Forky’s burgers are made with fresh ingredients and are encased in perfectly toasted buns. Slathered with a sauce of your choosing, Forky’s Burgers are fantastically messy and sinfully delicious. The Forky’s Cheez Burger is topped with vegan cheddar that actually tastes like cheddar!
Forky’s also offers vegan hot dogs, buddha bowls, kebabs, a range of noodle and salad bowls, plus fresh salads. One of their most popular menu items is the Superbowl, which is a huge salad bowl with superfood toppings that you get to choose. Country Life
Located just a few meters from Old Town Square, Country Life is an old-school vegan cafeteria with a buffet of hot entrees and a salad bar. Now while Country Life’s presentation may not be all that memorable, the food is well seasoned, tasty, and comforting. So for reasonable prices and healthy vegan food Country Life is a fair deal.
Creme de la Creme
Crème de la Crème is a gorgeous ice cream parlor in the midst of the Old Town Square. Yet, don’t expect the standard fruity vegan ice creams that most vegan ice cream parlors have. Creme de la Creme actually produces creamy vegan flavors. You’ll see vegan deliciousness in nearly every ice cream freezer that you peer into. The vibe is welcoming and the options are fantastic. The vegan salted peanut butter ice cream is a celebration of caramelly yum.
Pastva
With a menu that changes every day – modern interior design and great prices you’ll know that you are in vegan heaven when you visit Pastva. Located near the Anděl metro station in Prague’s Smíchov neighborhood, Pastva specializes in modern vegan cuisine. They serve light and healthy meals such as soups, salads and protein-rich pasta dishes. Dishes are composed solely of seasonal vegetable ingredients, which are used to create fresh, balanced meals. They also offer a wide selection of vegan desserts, homemade lemonades, and other products from local farms.
