Our review of PerioBrite all natural toothpaste…
Is PerioBrite really Nature’s Answer? Let’s find out. Well, the company is U.S.A. based and family owned located in Hauppauge, New York. Their facility houses a pharmaceutically licensed, Kosher-inspected, NSF certified, Organic Certified manufacturing operation, R&D Lab, QC Dept., Microbiological Lab and Modern Warehousing Complex. PerioBrite has been on the market since 1972.
When it comes to ingredients PerioBrite definitely leads the pack having one of the most clean ingredients list on the market. PerioBrite toothpaste ingredients include: Calcium carbonate, glycerin, water, sodium bicarbonate, cellulose gum, Bio-Saponins® (yucca schidigera root extract, quillaja saponaria root extract, dioscorea villosa (wild yam) tuber extract, smilax regelii root extract), mentha piperita (peppermint) oil, xylitol, lysine, xanthan, calendula officinalis flower extract, echinacea purpurea flower/leaf/stem extract, chamomilla recutita (marticaria) flower extract, centella asiatica extract, zanthoxylum americanum bark extract, origanum vulgare leaf extract, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil, syzygiuim aromaticum (clove) bud oil, folic acid, olea europaea (olive) leaf extract, thymus vulgaris (thyme) flower/leaf oil, euclayptus globulus leaf oil, Phytoplenolin® (centipeda cunninghamii herb extract), cinnamomum zeylanicum bark oil, citrus grandis (grapefruit) seed extract, julglans nigra (black walnut) shell extract, ubiquinone (coq10), camellia sinensis (green tea) leaf extract, aloe barbadensis leaf juice.
Now as you can see PerioBrite does contain some questionable ingredients, namely, calcium carbonate (which has been deemed unsafe for humans), silica and Xylitol (which has been found to be poisonous to dogs). However, compared to the toxins found in conventional brands PerioBrite still shines bright. It’s also gluten free, soy free, fluoride free, contains no sodium-lauryl-sulfate, no artificial sweeteners and no artificial preservatives.
Having used PerioBrite for several years now I must say that the experience has primarily been satisfying. The taste is pleasing and devoid of the typical weird after taste that many natural toothpaste brands tend to have. If you like a real spicy kick definitely try their cinnamon flavor. It definitely packs a mean punch. In addition to the toothpaste Nature’s Answer also has a mouthwash, which is just as good. Using them together may potentially result in more pleasant dental visits and check-ups.
Now the price of PerioBrite Toothpaste and Mouthwash is a bit steep compared to conventional brands. However, it’s comparable to other natural brands. Besides that, your dental hygiene is well worth the investment. Ultimately, PerioBrite is as close to natural as we’re likely to get, it’s manufactured in the U.S.A., you will find little to no negative reports on it (which is impressive for a product that’s been around for nearly 50 years)! For those reasons I would definitely suggest giving PerioBrite Toothpaste and Mouthwash a try.
