Vancouver British Columbia – Vegan Friendly Travel Destination

Our vegan friendly travel destination of the week is Vancouver, British Columbia. Vancouver is a racy west coast seaport in British Columbia. It is among Canada’s densest, most ethnically diverse cities. That said, you already know that Vancouver has a wealth of vegan friendly dining options. As it is quickly becoming a vegan hot spot from breakfast to dinner to late-night snacks, you’re sure to enjoy some wonderful dining experiences in Vancouver. Here are some of our favs.

The MeeT

The MeeT

Meet has three all-vegan locations including Main Street, Gastown, and Yaletown. Often being the first stop of any list of vegan restaurants in Vancouver, Meet has cemented itself in Vancouver as being the vegan best burger joint around. It’s well loved by vegans and omnivores alike.

MeeT’s menu is loaded with classic comfort food dishes made completely vegan. Some menu items to try are the Meet burger, the angry burg(er), beer-battered sweet-chili cauliflower, “butter chikkin” bowl, Noodle-y Thai Bowl, the Seoul bowl, and the macro bowl. Then there are the classics like vegan Mac and Cheese and the Southern BBQ Burger. Also, with decadent menu items like the Double-Double Burger (double coconut bacon and double cheez) that comes with a mountain of crispy fries and a salad all for a reasonable price, it’s no surprise that MeeT is the vegan go-to restaurant. It’s the one place that you’ll leave feeling full, satisfied, and with your wallet still intact.

Heirloom Vegetarian

Heirloom Vegetarian

For a weekend brunch featuring a contemporary but relaxed dining atmosphere, Heirloom is a must. It’s all white walls and window boxes of geraniums at Heirloom. They truly excel in doing upscale, beautiful, elegant, airy spaces all the while offering health-conscious, flavorful food.

While Heirloom’s all day menu is quite amazing, brunch is where they truly shine. Served everyday until the afternoon, their brunch menu includes the always delicious hashes, vegan bennies and omelettes. Though some must tries include Heirloom Hash with tofu and the Avocado Benedict, all served with mimosas, of course.

Dedicated to sustainability and the use of organic and local ingredients, all Heirloom ingredients are sourced locally, organically and ethically when possible. Though the price tag at Heirloom is a little higher, portions are refreshingly large and the food is beautifully presented.

Virtuous Pie

Virtuous Pie

Virtuous Pie has recently made quite a name for itself among vegan travelers. Offering a wide range of really delicious, all-vegan pizzas it may just be the best that you ever try. You may especially enjoy trying pizzas like the Ultraviolet, which consists of walnut and arugula pesto, cashew mozzarella, tomatoes, kale, caramelized onion, and pine nuts. Or perhaps the Superfunghi, made with wild mushrooms, potato cream and, mozzarella may tickle your taste bud fancy. Then there’s the ever so popular Stranger Wings that’s topped with crispy buffalo cauliflower and vegan blue cheese.

Yet, still the best part is that Virtuous Pie makes their own cashew ‘mozzarella’ in-house. Additionally, all the pizzas can be made gluten-free, and they also serve their own range of ice cream. So don’t leave without indulging in some of their eclectic ice cream flavors like Basil and Peach Jam. What better place to indulge than in a crisp, modern atmosphere surrounded by the heavenly yet sinful aroma of some of the best pizza in town?

The Naam

The Naam

The Naam is the city’s oldest natural foods restaurant as well as one of its most popular. The Naam opened in 1968 and is still much loved for its cozy location that’s open 24 hours a day and its always delicious menu staples.

Some staple offerings include tofu scrambles, omelettes, vegan pancakes, veggie sausage, stir fries, salads, wraps, pita pizzas, veggie burgers, Mexican dishes, a veggie-nut steak platter, and much more. Yet, their most popular menu choice is the hearty Dragon Bowls. So if you’re in the mood for a filling, sit-down meal where the prices are as good as the portion sizes than the Naam is a must try.

The Acorn

The Acorn

Named the No. 1 vegan-friendly restaurant in the world by Big 7 Travel, the Acorn is a contemporary, upscale restaurant in Riley Park serving the best in fine vegetarian and vegan dining. If you enjoy delicious seasonally inspired dishes where quality is valued over quantity and don’t mind the higher price tag be sure to visit the Acorn.

For the price the Acorn offers you get a slightly higher-end dining experience, beautiful presentations and excellent service. The food tastes as stunning as it looks and you’ll want to try everything. However, don’t leave without trying the mushroom appetizer. Also, when you visit be prepared for a bit of a wait because The Acorn is small and also very popular.
