There is actually a vegan friendly, plant based, gluten free, peanut free food coloring on the market. It’s Chefmaster All Natural Food Coloring! Chefmaster has successfully delivered us a safe, non-toxic means to use food coloring.
It comes in the standard color palette of naturally vibrant colors that blend easily to meet all of your design needs. Chefmaster does not change the taste, texture or scent of your food. Its FDA-approved and their natural red color does not contain Red 40. Instead they use beet juice.
Now, I found the concept of what Chefmaster was attempting to accomplish to be very impressive. However, it still needs to be improved in some areas. First, it doesn’t really work as well as semi- and artificial food dyes. Though it does in fact effectively dye, the coloring is rather faint. Also, the coloring fades upon baking.
Overall, the concept of natural food coloring is quite an innovative feat that we look forward to some company out there mastering. It didn’t quite happen with Chefmaster. However, they are certainly off to a good start. They just haven’t reached the finish line yet.
Have you tried Chefmaster All Natural Food Coloring? What was your experience?
