This week’s Hulu and hang fav is The Handmaid’s Tale. Now when I say this show is addictive, I mean just that. If you haven’t already watched it, be prepared to be shocked, outraged and hypnotically entranced all at once. You’ll find it very difficult to turn off while there will also be moments when you are so utterly disgusted that you’ll fight the strong urge to turn it off.
What I enjoyed most about The Handmaid’s Tale was the genius story line. The writer did such an excellent job of crafting the many complexities of each main character. It seriously makes deciding whether to like or hate a character nearly impossible.
The Handmaid’s Tale makes it more evident than ever the importance of not judging anyone. Life and circumstances can often be so complex that when you put yourself in the shoes of another you can’t definitively say what you would or would not do in their situation.
Besides that, the way of the world often forces us to make some very difficult choices. So to judge someone for any of the choices that they make ultimately has nothing to do with them and everything to do with you.
Truly understanding choices takes a whole heck of lot more than just walking a mile in someone else’s shoes. Honestly, you’d have to walk in their shoes for an entire lifetime and even that may not be enough, particularly given the premise that this lifetime is drawn upon those that preceded it.
Overall, watching The Handmaid’s Tale will make you question everything about yourself. It will cause you to reflect upon what has led you to become who you are and why. More than that, it will cause you to ponder the entire purpose of this existence.
