Something Has Changed In Shea Moisture Hair Products

Recently, as I was about to re-up on some hair care supplies when I instantly came to a screeching halt. I stopped myself from placing the habitual order because I’ve noticed that something has changed in the Shea Moisture hair products that I typically use. Not only do they not moisturize my hair as well, but they are heavily fragranced.

For me that is a no go. I checked the ingredients and though they don’t appear to have changed dramatically, the effectiveness of the products certainly have taken a nose dive.

For instance, the last time I used the Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Treatment Masque was an entirely different experience than I recall. It used to be so deliciously moisturizing. Yet, now my hair feels like a crunchy bird’s nest after using it. I’ve experienced similar outcomes with the Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Mask, the Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Conditioner as well as the Leave-In Conditioner.

So I decided to research this further to see if I was solo in this Shea Moisture Twilight Zone or if others had noticed this drastic change. I discovered that I was not alone. Others out there had noticed this downtrodden path that Shea Moisture had redirected itself to also.

Now as reassuring as it was to know that I had company in this hair care nightmare and that I had not succumb to psychedelic hallucinations, it still didn’t resolve things for me. Of course, now I’m left wondering what other all natural, plant based, cruelty free, moisturizing, high quality hair product do I use on my curly tresses now?

Over the years I’ve spent enough money on hair care products to start a hair care franchise of my own. I’ve literally tried it all! As such, I know first hand that the pickings are terribly slim. It’s a rarity to come by natural hair care products made of clean ingredients that actually work.

So here I sit, saddened by the loss of yet another natural hair care product gone bad. Having to face the fact that something has changed in Shea Moisture hair products means that it’s back to the drawing board for me.

As I stare at the bird’s nest on top of my head I realize the urgency of which my hair needs a healing! I may need to send out an S.O.S.

What about you other curly heads out there? What natural hair care line are you currently using?
