“The elevator to success is out of order. You’ll have to use the stairs… one step at a time.” – Joe Girard
When setting goals sometimes where you want to be relative to where you are can be both intimidating and daunting. It is during those times that its best to simply focus on taking one step from where you are.
Don’t let the leaps and bounds that you want to take overwhelm you. None of that even matters because it does not yet exist. The most important thing is always the present moment. It is the only thing that is real and that you can fully control. More importantly, its the foundation of what is to come.
If you lay a crappy foundation because you are only partially focused on it out of anticipation of what’s down the road, down the road may never come. If the foundation for the future is faulty, it will surely fall. If that happens the only thing that you’ll succeed at is disappointment.
So focus all that you have on a single step at time. Be meticulous in your execution of it. After a while, you’ll smile and be amazed at the flawlessly executed path that you have laid out for yourself. It will be your greatest achievement, hence the realization of success.
While the elevator to success is out of order, know that you can always take the stairs. Nothing wrong with a little exercise. It’s better for you and the environment anyway.
