Find out why the sales of eco-friendly household products are increasing…
Over the past several years instances of conventional household cleaning products linked to chronic illnesses has increased. In 2018 a report published by the American Thoracic Society’s American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine confirmed that the chemicals present in the cleaning products are very hazardous to human health.
According to Grand View Research, increasing concerns over germs, virus, and bacteria in the living spaces, coupled with rising awareness regarding health and hygiene, have led to a rise in demand for natural products with antimicrobial and disinfectant properties.
This has led to governments taking initiatives to remove and reduce harmful chemicals used in household cleaning products. An example of this is changes made in March 2015 by the United States Environmental Protection Agency under the Toxic Substances Control Act banning entire classes of hazardous chemicals in household cleaning products.
Meanwhile, eco-friendly household cleaning products are seeing an increase in sales. According to market research firm, Mintel, eco-friendly cleaning products account for 30 per cent of the household cleaners market, having increased by 15 per cent since 2013.
In response to the rising demand for more natural products several businesses now recognize the benefits of producing sustainable and effective cleaning products to enhance the reputation of their brands. Hence, they realize the significance of this to their monetary bottom line.
Ultimately, eco conscious consumers have the power to dictate how this turns out. Using the power of their dollars eco conscious consumers control the fate of sustainable, healthy, earth friendly products for the better.
